Amazon to acquire Whole Foods grocery store chain

Amazon said it plans to acquire American grocery store chain – Whole Foods. Amazon representatives were willing to keep the deal secret; however, Whole Food decided to attract even more wealthy investors and make more profitable deal. Nevertheless, no one offered a bigger price than Amazon, offering $42 a share with the final value of the deal at $13,7 billion. Whole Foods is known for providing the big variety of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as organic, non-GMO products. The grocery chain currently includes more than 400 stores in the United States, Canada and Britain.

Since the beginning of July, Amazon shares rose by 4%. The trade will be available during American session from 14:40 to 21:00 GMT.
